When to Use Each Format

JPG Compression

Best for photographs and complex images with many colors. A quality setting of 70-80% typically reduces file size by 60-80% with minimal visible difference.

PNG Compression

Best for screenshots, logos, and images with text or sharp edges. PNG compression is lossless — no quality loss, but smaller savings than JPG.

WebP Compression

Google's modern format. Typically 25-35% smaller than equivalent quality JPG. Supported in all modern browsers.

Why Not Use Other Image Compressors?

Most free image compressors (TinyPNG, CompressJPEG, etc.) require uploading your files to their servers. This means:

• Your images are stored (at least temporarily) on someone else's server
• Upload speed depends on your connection
• There are usually daily or per-file limits
